JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): Under the general supervision of the EVS and Laundry Manager and department Director, the position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day Environmental Services department production efforts within the hospital. The main function of this position is the front-line coaching and support of staff as they follow the standardization, service and communication developed by EVS leadership; with an emphasis on quality that positively impacts patient satisfaction. This position is a working position and leads by example. This person embodies St. Peter’s patient centric philosophy and strengthens employee satisfaction. Areas of focus for this position will be;

On a daily basis

Oversees the location and placement of staff to create efficiency and smooth patient flow

Is an example of and ensures that staff are following EVS standard practice of work (10 steps)

Is an example of and mentors staff on the proper use of AIDET

Holds or Assists the EVS and Laundry Manager in daily safety huddles

Provides quality assurance & training regarding cleaning processes and infection control via the department QA measures, including feedback from rounding and observation.

May provide payroll functions such as Kronos, vacation and staff scheduling.

Oversees the safe working environment of EVS staff

Participates in various committees as assigned by the Director

Coordinates with the Manager and or Director on hiring and discipline.

Responds to calls in outpatient areas to provide increased patient satisfaction.

Is the first line of service recovery for the department; including the use of the service recovery packet

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

Three to five years related work experience expected.

Leadership experience is desired.

Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of hospital personnel in gathering and exchanging information and to be able to develop and provide an example to new & existing staff regarding the codes, regulations and areas of compliance for the EVS department.

Analytical skills necessary in order to gather and analyze operational data and assist in the development of policies and procedures.

EDUCATION: Associates degree or equivalent supervisory work experience.LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: N / A.Aptitudes: Demonstrated ability to effectively and creatively lead staff by example. Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise multiple daily quality assignments and projects with multiple timelines. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with individuals and groups of people.
