Summary About the Position: This position is located at the U.S. Army Engineer School, 35th Engineer Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Fort Leonard Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, Missouri. Bordering the installation to the North are the towns of Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2 hour drive to the East along I-44 and Springfield is an hour's drive West of Fort Leonard Wood. Responsibilities Serve as the liaison between the Engineer School and the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate (OSJA) under the technical supervision and guidance of the Chief, Military Justice or his or her designee(s). Provide administrative support in the examination, initiation, and completion of legal actions and documents for review by the Chief, Military Justice or his or her designee(s). Assist commanders at all levels and their personnel with all matters relating to the administration of military justice, including but not limited to, administrative separations per AR-635-200 and AR 600-8-24. Prepare draft appointment orders detailing officers to conduct AR 15-6 investigations, administrative separation boards, and Article 32 hearings for review and coordinates with the appropriate attorney to schedule their briefings and legal reviews. Receive Commander’s Report of disciplinary or Administrative Action from the provost marshal or Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and ensure commanders promptly complete necessary action and immediately return the form to the appropriate office. Initiate and process forms required for Soldiers reported as absent without leave (AWOL) and dropped from rolls (DFR), and prepares and processes to completion other legal documents. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes implementing administrative policies and procedures; advising on matters of office legal administration/processes, file management, and coordinating administrative procedural functions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Qualified Typist Requirement: In addition to meeting the experience or education requirements, for all positions titled as Office Automation or any clerical positions which has parenthetical title of Office Automation (OA), applicants must have typing proficiency of 40 words per minute (wpm). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical) Integrity/Honesty Self-Management Writing Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.
