Job Description:Performs scrub duties and maintains sterile supplies and sterile technique under supervision of assigned preceptor.Posting Specifics

Flat Rate: $23/hour

Benefits Eligible: No

Shift Details: Full-time, 40 hours/week will call requirements. Monday - Friday

Department: General Surgery, St. James Hospital (Butte, Montana)

Assembles, organizes and completes case carts according to doctor’s preference lists.

Provides appropriate instrumentation, suture and all supplies as requested and provides and maintains a sterile environment. May assist surgeons by passing instruments to surgeons during cases.

Counts sponges, needles, blades and instruments using proper technique and established policy.

Assists in maintenance and care of specimens and prepares for laboratory analysis. Handles specimens, implants, dressings, soiled instruments, contaminated materials and sharps in accordance with established policy and recommended standards of practice

Assists with timely turnover of rooms, including clean up, replacement and restocking of supplies and equipment. Cares for instruments and equipment.

Promotes mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health, and abides by service behavior standards.

Performs other duties as assigned.

May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competence and qualifications) based on business need.

May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.

EducationRequired:

High school diploma or GED is required.

Enrolled in an accredited surgical technologist program is required and able to begin clinical rotation.

CertificationRequired:

Registered in state of practice as a Surgical Technologist is required.

Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) course completion card from the American Heart Association is required.
