Position Summary: The House Supervisor provides leadership, coordination and integration of healthcare services, and supervises safety and quality of care. The house supervisor has hospital administrative responsibility in the absence of regular leadership, including serving as incident commander in times of disaster and mass casualty incidents. Additional responsibilities include the management of patient flow throughout the hospital, incorporating assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of overall patient care delivery at the departmental level to ensure that patients and families receive optimum care.Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing; equivalent combination of education and experience considered

Current Montana Registered Nurse (RN) licensure

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within six (6) months of hire

Five (5) years acute care nursing with varied experience

Two (2) hours of verifiable trauma-related education annually

Six (6) hours stroke training annually, NIHSS will count for three (3) hours

Preferred: Previous supervisory/management experience

Preferred: Critical care or emergency department experience

Preferred: Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)

Essential Job Functions: In addition to the essential functions of the job listed below, employees must have on-time completion of all required education as assigned per DNV requirements, Bozeman Health policy, and other registry requirements.

Coordinate patient care throughout the hospital and outpatient areas, including but not limited to the following:

Serve as liaison for staff, patients and families, providers, law enforcement, and governing bodies when appropriate, balancing the needs and interests of these groups

Expedite admission, discharge, and transfer of patients, appropriately guiding physician understanding of admission Utilization Review InterQual criteria

Facilitate and communicate the need for emergency surgery with OR and procedural areas

Initiate and facilitate hospital organ donation protocols

Round on all nursing units monitoring activities:

Assure adequate staffing with knowledge of patient needs and unit standards, assist in alignment of unit staffing with productivity goals and objectives

Temporarily provide the services of other departments as needed in their absence

Respond in real-time to concerns that have been escalated by department staff and/or patients & families

Act as liaison between physician and patient care team

Activate medical staff chain of command when indicated, and exercise authority for staff disciplinary action as needed

Uphold established policies and procedures, refer others to appropriate policy language for specific instructions and guidelines, hold others accountable to the standards of their job description and overall philosophy of Bozeman Health

Demonstrate responsible management of all organizational resources

Demonstrate clinical/technical and managerial competency

Promote the goals and values of Bozeman Health

Lead, teach, inspire, support, and consistently demonstrate the cultural and behavioral standards of Bozeman Health acting as a role model, mentor, and innovator

Physical Requirements

Lifting, Pushing, and Pulling: Support 50 pounds of weight (patient, assist with bedside needs, etc.) Lift 50 pounds (pick up a child, transfer a patient, etc.) Carry equipment/supplies. Use upper body strength (CPR, physically restrain patient, etc.)

Extended Hours: The role may involve working for extended periods, requiring sitting, walking, or standing for eight or more hours daily.

Flexible Schedule: The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.

On-Call Availability: On-call work may be required to respond to organizational and patient needs promptly.

Effective Communication: Proficient in effective communication, both in person and through various technologies.

Handling Challenging Situations: The role may involve dealing with upset individuals, requiring the ability to de-escalate situations and work effectively with frustrated patients or families.

Repetitive Tasks: Ability to perform repetitive tasks as needed to fulfill job responsibilities.
