This position will also coordinate programming that promotes the academic success of student-athletes.Position Number 4M0004 & 4M1346 Department Athletics Division Athletics Appointment Type Classified Contract Term Fiscal Year Semester If other, specify From date If other, specify End date FLSA Non-Exempt Union Affiliation FOCUS-MFPE FTE 1.0 Benefits Eligible Eligible Salary $24.388 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications Contract Type Classified Salary If other, please specify Recruitment Type Open Position Details General Statement The Athletics department administers 15 NCAA sports: Men’s and Women’s Basketball; Football; Women’s Golf; Men’s & Women’s Skiing; Men’s and Women’s Tennis; Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, Indoor Track and Outdoor Track; and, Women’s Volleyball.Under the supervision of the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student Services / SWA the person in this position will perform a variety of tasks to promote academic achievement, graduation, and personal growth of each student-athlete. This position will also coordinate programming that promotes the academic success of student-athletes.Duties and Responsibilities

Counsel student-athletes in academics.

Coordinate student-athlete progress toward receiving a degree working with the student-athlete’s academic advisor, academic department, Registrar’s Office, FAR , and the student-athlete.

Oversee academic eligibility for each student-athlete on teams as assigned, and meet regularly with and update coaches on the academic progress of team members.

Manage the distribution of books for S/A’s on book scholarships and the Bobcat Athletics book library.

Work closely with potential student-athletes (high school & transfers) to assess eligibility for competition, financial aid, and practice.

Coordinate any eligibility waivers for incoming and continuing student-athletes on assigned teams. Manage, track, and predict APR for assigned teams.

Onboard incoming freshman and transfer student-athletes to ensure they are meeting all NCAA , Big Sky and MSU requirements as well as facilitate a smooth transition to MSU .

Team teach freshman level transitional course section as assigned by the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student Services / SWA

Other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student Services/ SWA , and/or the Director of Athletics.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, or a combination of education and/or experience from which comparable skills are acquired.

Experience in athletics administration or higher education.

Experience and competence in advising and/or student success in a higher-ed setting

Experience in establishing and monitoring policies and practices related to academic success.

Experience working with and engaging diverse students

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Master’s degree in a related field.

Experience interacting with a diverse constituency using excellent interpersonal communications skills, both written and oral.

Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA Division I and Big Sky Conference bylaws.

Experience with MSU’s SCT Banner software system, and experience w/ NCAA Computer Assistant and Legislative Services Database internet.
