Log Specialist
Examines and processes drivers' daily logs and records to ensure compliance of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (part 395). Tracks daily driver violations, corrects logging errors and tracks DVIR completion. The Log Specialist reports to the Operations Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
ELD Interaction
Log Correction
Discrepancy Identification
Supporting documentation verification
Paper log auditing as needed
Call driver to request missing logs/ensure all logs are acquired/make corrections
Filing daily paperwork
Administrative support for Operations Manager
Driver email/mailing
Assist with other safety department tasks as required
Proficiently uses Strategy Live TMS, Samsara ELD Portal, ORBCOMM ReeferTrak Software
Understand and comply with FMCSA HOS regulations
Provides professional interface with dispatch team and drivers - representing the company professionally at all times
Metrics
Number of logs audited daily
Accuracy of logs
Missing logs at week end
SOPs/Quarterly reporting to Supervisor
Driver daily log violations
DVIR audited daily
Qualifications
High school diploma
Experience with FMCSA regulations regarding logs and ELDs
Ability to learn to compute hours of service as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
Basic understanding of transportation equipment/terminology
Knowledge of U.S geography and map reading
Organize and schedule work day independently
Manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, service-driven environment
Good interpersonal skills and service attitude
Knowledge of electronic logging systems, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, Internet Browsers, and working knowledge of Windows Operating System.
Physical requirements
Physically able to sit for long periods of time
Ability to sit, twist, turn, reach and pull with comfort
