This exciting opportunity is available to Doctoral level graduates with exceptional teaching abilities and a desire to support the undergraduate and graduate programs at Southern Miss. Teaching track faculty are permanent faculty, and eligible for promotion. We are especially interested in colleagues who support the mission of the University and support student success initiatives designed to promote retention of diverse, first-generation college students. One position will primarily serve the undergraduate program at the smaller Gulf Park campus – area of specialization is open. Faculty on this campus enjoy a scenic campus across from the Gulf of Mexico and smaller class sizes. A second position will primarily serve the larger Hattiesburg campus which will include teaching courses which serve a diverse undergraduate major and opportunities to contribute to the graduate programs offered in the School. At the undergraduate level, faculty may have opportunities to teach on both campuses. Depending on the applicant’s background, at the graduate level, licensed or license-eligible teaching track faculty can be involved on the Hattiesburg campus in clinical training, practicum supervision in our in-house training clinic, and teaching graduate-level courses. Opportunities for program leadership in the Master’s Counseling Psychology program are available to highly qualified applied applicants, but not required. Although Mississippi does not require postdoctoral hours for licensure, opportunities for peer supervision during the licensure process are available from licensed faculty.The School of Psychology has approximately 600 undergraduate majors across two campuses and 125 graduate students completing programs in one of three APA-accredited doctoral programs (Counseling, Clinical, & School), a doctoral program in Experimental Psychology and an MPCAC-accredited Master’s program in Counseling Psychology. Teaching a combination of undergraduate and graduate classes in areas of expertise.
Contributing to the mission of the university and profession through service activities focused on teaching and student success initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications Doctoral degree in Psychology, or related area, by August 2025.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Exceptional written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven track record of innovative teaching practices and the ability to teach effectively at the university level.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with students, staff and faculty from diverse backgrounds, programs, colleges.
Knowledge of the field of Psychology.
Preferred Qualifications Strong applicants will demonstrate the potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching.
