This Position is for an Assistant Athletic Director with a public university located in Perkinston, MS.Job Description: The Director of Strength and Conditioning is responsible for providing programming and coaching that includes but is not limited to motivation, education, guidance on proper nutrition, conditioning, resistance training, mobility, and recovery to help athletes develop to the best of their ability. The Director of Strength and Conditioning will have direct responsibility to the Dean of Athletics.Duties and Responsbilities:Design and implement strength training and conditioning programs in-season, off-season, and preseason for all school-sanctioned male and female athletic programs in a manner that reflects research-driven practices and our institution's Long-Term Athletic/Fitness Development Model. Maintain Athletic Performance Facility (APF) training schedule for all athletic teams.Maintain Athletic Performance Facility (APF) daily cleaning schedule.Work in cooperation with the sports medicine or athletic training staff in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured athletes.Collaborate with coaches and the athletic training staff on injuries that are high presence in their sport. Develop programs for the prevention of these injuries.Facilitate a collaborative relationship among sports coaches, sports medicine, and the strength and conditioning staff.Design and implement policies and procedures for the strength and conditioning program in accordance with the institution's standards and guidelines. Develop systems for tracking athlete attendance and athlete progress in conjunction with each coaching staff.Maintain a personal health and fitness lifestyle consistent with the institution's guidelines. Conduct an annual needs analysis for each sports team in conjunction with the sports coach and the team's athletic trainer at the conclusion of each sports season. Determine and reinforce expectations for student-athlete conduct that mirror the school's expectations. Successfully complete training and educational courses as required.Assist with daily maintenance and upkeep of strength training facilities.Assist with administrative and budget aspects of the strength and conditioning program.

Be knowledgeable of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) rules and regulations pertaining to eligibility, recruiting, the conduct of coaches, etc.Supervise student-athletes with integrity and with a professional attitude.Serve as an administrative leader for the entire Athletics Department in conjunction with the Dean of Athletics. Provide guidance focused on exceptional sportsmanship and a championship culture mindset.Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Dean of Athletics and Campus Vice President.Qualifications:Mandatory: B.S. in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Human Performance, or related field.Current standard first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillation (AED) certifications.A strong working knowledge and teaching skills in analysis and techniques of strength training.Experience and/or expertise in strength and conditioning programming for college populations.Strong Motivational abilities.Must hold at least one of the following certifications: Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA); Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa).Desirable:2+ years of coaching strength and conditioning at the high school, collegiate, or professional level preferred.Evidence of ability to interact positively with student-athletes, colleagues, and the public.Evidence of strong organizational skills and effective oral and written communication skills.EEO Statement:Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is an qual Opportunity Employer and welcomes students and employees without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, sex, age or qualified disability in its programs and activities.
