Located within the School of Child and Family Sciences, The Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and follows best practices and NAEYC code of ethics.Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Assists in providing a model early childhood classroom.

Assists in the planning and documentation of program curricula and utilizes the classroom environment to model evidence-based early childhood practices.

Guides, directs, and supervises children in developmentally appropriate activities and personal care routines throughout the day.

Actively participates in professional development activities such as workshops, conferences, in-service training, and parent meetings.

Completes all required written reports in a timely manner.

Assists in the effective communication between families, program staff, University laboratory students, University faculty, community resources.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree in child development or related field, and six months of related work experience. Applicant will be required to obtain appropriate CPR and First Aid certification; pass an acceptable background check for childcare licensure in the state of Mississippi and provide an acceptable immunization record (121 Form) for working in an early childhood setting. Ability to effectively guide and supervise young children to ensure safety and implement developmentally appropriate practice.

Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail

Ability to move freely, lift, sit, and stand with ease

Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines

Ability to effectively supervise children and University students in variety of settings, including indoor classrooms, outdoor learning environments, and local field trips year-round.

Excellent organization and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from an accredited and college or university in Child and Family Studies or related field. Two years of work experience in the field of early childhood. Experience in a NAEYC-accredited center.
