Job DescriptionGeneral Purpose:The purpose of this position is to provide work direction and supervision to production employees within the guidelines of standard work rules, and employment policies. Monitor all stages of the production process and ensure accurate processing of product and/or fulfillment of customer orders through appropriate production scheduling. Hold self and others accountable for promoting safety rules and regulations and act in accordance with the requirements for food safety and quality. Ensure that the production process flows smoothly, and daily production goals are met. Function as a resource and point of escalation to direct reports. Coach, mentor, and provide performance development opportunities to team members on an ongoing basis.Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Follow all GMP’s and work in a manner consistent with all corporate, regulatory, food safety, quality and sanitation requirements to produce safe quality food.
Monitor operations activities (milk receiving, cheese production, evap, paste, dryer, etc.) to ensure that plant production and quality standards are met. Primary area will be assigned based on posting.
Monitor the equipment used in production processes to ensure that equipment is functioning efficiently and is properly cleaned and sanitized. Arrange/coordinate for timely repair/resolution of equipment failures.
Supervise production scheduling so appropriate quantities and varieties of product are produced to fill orders, meet productivity goals, etc. Ensure materials (e.g., ingredients, packaging) are appropriately staged for next production runs.
Work effectively with employees to promote positive and productive working relationships. Administer discipline consistently and fairly. Work with Human Resources and plant leadership to resolve employee conflict.
Schedule, assign work, and provide clear direction to production employees as needed. Ensure that the production process flows smoothly, and daily production goals are met.
Ability to troubleshoot production and equipment problems.
Train and monitor employees on production processes, safety, chemical safety, CIP systems and cleaning procedures.
Proactively look for ways to increase operational efficiency and contain costs
Drive continuous improvement programs such as 5S, Kaizens, Poke Yoke and Idea Funnel. Eliminate or reduce the 6 deadly wastes.
Monitor and document waste and resources to improve cost and quality.
Reviews general status of production schedules to ensure that schedules are being met, and if necessary, assigns or adjusts schedules and/or personnel to balance and expedite work through production areas.
Ensure correct operating parameters for product being produced and review with Department/Plant Manager prior to production. Ensure operating parameters adherence throughout the production runs.
Coach, assist and develop team leaders for success.
Assure smooth operation and communications between team leaders and production employees.
Monitor and drive the Food Safety Plan.
Assist QC in maintaining required sanitation and quality levels.
Assist management in maintaining regular audits. (USDA, MDA,SQF, etc.)
Complete supervisory activities such as administering employee promotions and transfers; reviewing and editing employee timekeeping; completing performance evaluations; mentoring, training, and coaching employees
Actively promote safe work behaviors and hold self and direct reports accountable for following safety rules and regulations. Conduct accident/injury investigations and send reports of injury to HR in a timely manner to meet rapid reporting standards. May coordinate and/or facilitate plant safety meetings and training.
Responsible to work with Maintenance to conduct preventive maintenance and support repairs to any plant equipment.
Assist Lab and warehouse departments as needed.
Complete required duties in SAP, Kronos and other plant recording programs.

RequirementsEducation and Experience:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
3 years in food manufacturing environment preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Able to work flexible schedules to cover shifts when needed
Knowledge of manufacturing process flow and importance to process
Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training, and personnel management
Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
