12920BRJob Description:U. S. Steel's Minnesota Ore Operations includes two open pit mines and processing facilities in Northern MN (Minntac in Mt. Iron and Keetac in Keewatin) and has the following vacancy at the Minntac facility: Process Manager - Maintenance Planning: This position reports directly to the Area Manager of the Agglomerator.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Supervision of the RCM department at Step 2 Agglomerator, which includes three to four hourly planners.

Planning and execution for plant outages, of which there are three to four per year.

Planning the weekly maintenance schedule with input from operations and maintenance.

The candidate will work with a team troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrading mechanical systems to improve equipment reliability.

Keep inventory of critical spares in conjunction with the maintenance department

Keep inventory of all outage critical material and parts

Participate in budget management and capital planning

Plan and execute capital projects

The candidate must be willing to utilize concepts such as CMMS and preventive/predictive maintenance to assure success of the maintenance program and be willing to work closely with peers and outside vendors to assure lowest cost and highest quality of maintenance related equipment.

This position is also responsible for administering the U. S. Steel Safety program to ensure a safe work environment within the assigned facility.

REQUIREMENTS:

The position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related engineering field or technical college degree plus two or more years of supervisory experience in a production environment, however, candidates with related education and experience that is transferable are encouraged to apply.

In addition, the successful candidate must be independent and have the ability to make sound operating and mechanical decisions with little input from other managers.

The preferred candidate will be knowledgeable in mechanical maintenance of equipment used in the taconite mining process as well as have a strong mechanical background relating to repair of heavy industrial equipment.

All successful candidates are subject to background checks, pre-employment physical examinations, and drug and alcohol screening.
