Purpose of Position: The Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating both manual and CNC machines efficiently and safely while maintaining quality and quantity standards.

Essential Job Specific Duties:

1. Reads and interprets prints and routings.

2. Obtain materials from the staging area as needed.

3. Uses appropriate set up techniques for a variety of parts and weldments in a job shop environment.

4. Sets up tooling and sets machine zeros using probes, indicators, tooling balls, etc.

5. Performs adjustments as needed through the machining process to meet quality requirements.

6. Monitors machining process for things such as tool wear, appropriate speeds and feeds, and production efficiency.

7. Performs appropriate inspection processes utilizing a variety of machine and hand inspection tools, surface plates, micrometers, indicators, thread gauges, etc.

8. Unloads machine and stages material in appropriate areas.

9. Completes all necessary documentation thoroughly and on time.

10. Uses time tracking system to accurately track time to job/operations.

11. Maintains work area in a clean, orderly fashion.

12. Knows and follows all safety standards, policies, and procedures.

13. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Geometric tolerancing

Use of inspection equipment

G-code

Shop based mathematics and geometry

Maintains a level 1 certification of crane and forklift according to the company safe and operating procedures

Education and Experience:

Technical College Diploma is required.

3-5 years of relevant experience as a Machinist is required.

Experience in metal fabrication is required.

Job shop experience is preferred.
