The work schedule will include at least 64 hours per two-week pay period and may include additional work hours, based on business needs. Employees will receive a shift differential of $2.25 per hour for all hours worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.This position will be filled in either the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Medical Assistant, Certified (CMA) job classification. The classification level (LPN or CMA) in which the position is filled will be determined based on the qualifications of the applicant who is selected for the position.The LPN and CMA perform duties to assist practitioners and Registered Nurses in providing health care to incarcerated individuals. Responsibilities include:

Perform functions related to "rooming" the incarcerated individual for practitioner examinations, including obtaining blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, weight and documenting complaints.

Perform phlebotomy functions with incarcerated individuals, including collecting blood and urine samples and performing other tests ordered by the practitioner.

Conduct Blood Pressure Clinic and other chronic care clinics with incarcerated individuals.

Administer medication as prescribed by the practitioner.

Minimum QualificationsTo be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Graduation from an approved school of nursing plus current licensure in Minnesota as a Practical Nurse without limitations or restrictions.

Computer experience sufficient to complete electronic charting and use basic computer functions such as email.

Medical Assistant, Certified

Completion of an approved training program in medical assisting plus certification or registration as a medical assistant by passing a national examination.

Computer experience sufficient to complete electronic charting and use basic computer functions such as email.

Preferred QualificationsThe following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:

Licensed Practical Nurse.

Clinical experience in a hospital, long-term care and/or clinic setting.

Experience working in a correctional or secured setting.

Experience in a specialized clinical area(s), such as in gender-specific, geriatric, juvenile health care, medical/surgery unit, and/or behavioral health.

Physical RequirementsThe completion of pre-placement physical components may be required for this position. These components consist of a tuberculosis screening and/or respirator clearance.
