As an R&D Engineer/Scientist II, you will be responsible for conducting research and development activities to drive the development of innovative solutions. You will utilize your technical expertise in areas related to navigation, controls, system/software design, data analysis, algorithm development, or related fields to contribute to the advancement of cutting-edge technologies. Your role will involve designing and conducting experiments, simulations, and analyses to drive the development of new navigation technologies and products. There will be an emphasis on hardware and software development for this role. As part of the Navigation, Controls, and Surveillance team within Advanced & Applied Technology, you will be at the forefront of research to drive autonomy and navigation work for our customers, especially in the area of GPS-denied navigation. You will play a crucial role in driving technological advancements, shaping the future of the company, and contributing to Honeywell's commitment to addressing global challenges through innovative solutions. You will report directly to our Sr R&D Manager, and you will report to 12001 State Highway 55, Plymouth, MN 55441. This role is eligible for hybrid work mode, except for the first 90 days. Key Responsibilities
Contribute as part of a team conducting research and development related to navigation systems, especially through HW/SW support
HW/SW integration of navigation systems
Implement HW/SW protocols on navigation systems including SW middleware (DDS, ZMQ, LCM, etc.), communication protocols (UART, I2C, SPI, etc.), and other similar HW/SW tasks
Support ground and/or flight testing of prototype navigation systems as appropriate
Travel: 0 - 15% may be required

The annual base salary range for this position is $86,400 -$105,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

YOU MUST HAVE
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
Strong background in areas such as software development, navigation, state estimation, robotics, controls, system integration, algorithm development, or related fields
3+ years of experience with software development working with C/C and Python or Matlab

Master’s degree in a technical discipline such as electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science, robotics, mechanical engineering, or similar
Advanced degree in an engineering or related field with experience in research
Experience working HW/SW build of complex navigation or robotic systems
Excellent analytical skills with strong software skills
Experience with ROS
