Construction Operations Assistant / Runner

Company: Lakeside Decking

Location: 500 Brimhall Ave Long Lake MN 55396

Are you a driven, hands-on problem solver who enjoys working independently while taking direction from others? Do you thrive in an environment where no two days are the same and love the challenge of keeping things running smoothly? If so, you might be the perfect fit for Lakeside Decking as our Construction Operations Assistant / Runner!

Who We Are

At Lakeside Decking, we’re more than just deck builders—we’re craftsmen. Our foundation in fine woodworking has shaped our meticulous approach to deck building, focusing on design, precision, strength, and beauty in every project we take on.

At Lakeside as a whole, we focus on what we call the 4 C's: Communication, Craftsmanship, Creativity, and Community

We are a process-driven, fast-growing company that values efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement. Our goal is to build exceptional decks and outdoor spaces while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and customer satisfaction.

What You’ll Do

As a Construction Operations Assistant / Runner, you will play a key role in ensuring our projects run smoothly by supporting the project managers and field team. You’ll handle important day-to-day operations that help keep our team moving efficiently. Your responsibilities will include:

Coordinating daily deliveries and pickups to make sure materials arrive on time and in excellent condition.

Keeping job sites clean, organized, and professional, reinforcing our high standards.

Managing inventory, tools, and materials, ensuring our crews have what they need.

Assisting with punch list items to finalize projects and maintain top-tier quality.

Maintaining and organizing our warehouse and storage spaces to maximize efficiency.

Handling logistics and solving problems on the go, keeping work moving forward.

Following safety protocols and industry standards.

Attending weekly team meetings to stay aligned with company goals and priorities.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently and taking ownership of tasks while also being able to follow directions from supervisors and team members.

You’d Be a Great Fit If You:

At Lakeside Decking, we operate with a strong set of core values that guide how we work. If these sound like you, you’ll thrive in this role:

✅ Are a Driven Learner & Doer – You take initiative, stay proactive, and don’t need to be micromanaged to get things done. You’re eager to grow and always looking for ways to improve.

✅ Are Resourceful – You solve problems quickly, find solutions on the go, and figure things out when challenges arise.

✅ Have a Great Attitude – You bring positivity to the team and handle challenges with a solutions-focused mindset.

✅ Are Self-Aware – You recognize your strengths, take feedback well, and look for ways to develop both personally and professionally.

✅ Work Well Independently While Taking Direction – You can follow instructions but don’t need constant supervision to stay on track.

What You Need to Succeed

Experience in construction, logistics, or operations is a plus, but not required.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Ability to lift and transport materials (up to 50 lbs).

Familiarity with construction materials and tools (or a willingness to learn).

A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for running materials and supplies.

Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and professional work environment.

Why Join Lakeside Decking?

Competitive Pay: Starting at $45,000/year with performance-based bonuses.

Growth Opportunities: We invest in our team and provide opportunities for career advancement.

Work-Life Balance: Stable Monday-Friday schedule (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM) with occasional overtime.

Benefits: Paid time off, paid holidays, and sick days after a 90-day review period.

Tools & Resources: We equip you with everything you need to succeed.

This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and a calm attitude when things shift quickly. If you're someone who struggles with last-minute changes, doesn't take direction well, or needs your day to stay exactly as planned, this probably isn’t the right fit.

Our team often pivots quickly to meet the needs of active job sites, and we need someone who can stay focused, problem-solve on the fly, and handle changes without frustration.
