Horse Caretaker and Handy Person wanted for permanent position for mornings, plus some extra - for others' days off, fill-in, and holidays, etc.- 25 to 35 hours per week. If capable would easily be a full time position, but I am seriously interested in someone who will take care of the place, grounds maintenance, fencing, tree trimming, some mechanical. Would like someone who will be around for a while and hired by mid to end of August. If someone is interested in a permanent position some weekend and evening shifts would be covered by part-time people.
Shift length can vary according to what is happening as each day can be different, but shortest would be approx. 2 hours (pm shifts) and longest would be 6-7, with most days 3-5. Longer days depend on projects working on, farrier, etc. Horse experience required! Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
feeding
prepping grain
hay (able to drive bobcat to put out round bales is a plus)
watering
cleaning stalls (most days it is only 2 stalls /day,but could be up to 7 - rarely)
barn cleaning and maintenance
grooming
moving horses
moving round hay bales
fence maintenance
yard maintenace
move snow
etc.
Must have horse handling experience, no riding skills required, but if have dressage experience or young horse experience a plus, although to my standards - need strong references for this.
We are a nom-smoking farm - NO SMOKING
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Must have current valid drivers license
Certified for driving a bobcat would be great
Prefer someone within 20 min drive - we are approx. 10 min SW of Chaska
Must be reliable even in bad weather
Future living space may be possible
Pay dependent on experience
