EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

Position: Equipment Operator

Location: Minneapolis, MN

Salary: $18.50

Overview: Eureka Recycling is currently hiring an Equipment Operator to perform manual labor and equipment operation in processing residential recyclables (paper products, aluminum, glass, and plastic containers) delivered to our material recovery facility (MRF).

Responsibilities of the Equipment Operator:

1. Operate a variety of equipment (front end loaders, forklifts, skid steer loaders, etc.) in the processing of recyclable materials from residential homes and various building locations which are delivered to the material recovery facility (MRF).

2. Operate a forklift to load and unload material and equipment.

3. Operate a bailer and compactor.

4. Groom bails by using a hand tool to remove contamination.

5. Operate a two-way radio to communicate with and receive instructions from a supervisor and communicate with others.

6. Perform daily inspections of equipment.

7. Direct flow of truck traffic within the MRF in a safe manner.

8. Report malfunctions and repair requirements to a supervisor.

9. Collect and record data, fill out paperwork and reports as needed.

10. Document work and equipment changes and submits daily material usage and requests in English.

11. Perform other duties as assigned.

12. Check the work area for hazards such as holes, soft spots and obstructions, and checking overhead for utility lines, doorway clearances, or other obstructions on a regular basis.

13. Wash exterior, clean interior, and grease equipment as required.

Required Qualifications and skills:

1. Must successfully complete pre-employment physical and drug screen. Is subject to the Company’s drug-free workplace program.

2. Ability to operate a front end loader, skid steer loader, and forklift.

3. Reliable, good attendance, punctual

4. Ability to follow written and verbal directions and to complete assigned tasks on schedule.

5. Ability to learn from directions, observations and mistakes and apply procedures using good judgment.

6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to interact appropriately with others.

7. Ability to work with supervision, receiving instructions/feedback, coaching/counseling and/or action/discipline.

8. Communicate effectively via a two-way radio.

9. Ability to work courteously and tactfully with customers and employees.

10. Ability to read, legibly write and communicate in English and understand basic math. Bilingual candidates welcome.

Preferred skills

. Equipment operator and baler experience preferred.
