Now Hiring: Compassionate In-Home Caregiver (Minneapolis – Kenny Neighborhood)
Flexible hours Supportive family environment Rewarding one-on-one care
Are you someone who finds purpose in helping others? We’re looking for a kind, reliable, and patient caregiver to support a 41-year-old man with developmental and medical needs in his private home in the Kenny neighborhood of South Minneapolis (near major bus routes).
This role offers meaningful work in a calm, supportive environment—perfect for someone who values relationship-based care and flexible days.
About the Client:
The client is a gentle and friendly man who lives with the long-term effects of childhood brain cancer and radiation treatment. He experiences developmental delays, central sleep apnea, and is incontinent, requiring regular assistance with personal care. He is able to speak, though he has some communication challenges, and may need extra time and support to express himself or stay engaged in conversation.
He enjoys low-key activities like going to the movies, attending Minnesota Lynx games, community outings, and quiet time at home. Some days are more active than others—flexibility and patience are essential as his daily needs can vary. You must be comfortable with downtime and ready to adjust the flow of the day depending on how he's doing.
What You’ll Do:
Provide personal care, including toileting and incontinence care
Assist with hygiene routines, dressing, simple meals, and light housekeeping
Engage in gentle social interaction and support community participation
Drive the client to events using a wheelchair-accessible van provided by the family
Follow care directions while encouraging independence and comfort
Meals are provided during shifts, and all outing costs are fully covered by the employer.
Schedule & Pay:
Competitive hourly pay (based on experience)
Flexible part-time or full-time hours
Weekend availability preferred
You will be payrolled through a professional home care agency, but you will be working directly for and managed by the client’s family
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
Is compassionate, calm, and dependable
Understands or is open to learning about brain injuries, seizure disorders, and communication challenges
Is physically capable of assisting with transfers (200 lbs, partial support needed)
Has a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation
Is comfortable with quiet time, slower-paced shifts, and a variable daily routine
Can pass a background check
Is trained or willing to be trained in medication administration
How to Apply:
Please email your work history and phone number to be considered. We look forward to hearing from you and exploring whether this role is the right fit for both of us.
