As we continue to grow, we are seeking a talented and experienced Kitchen Production Manager to oversee food prep and production at our commissary kitchen and ensure our event staff has what they need for seamless execution.
Job Summary:
The Kitchen Production Manager will lead the back-of-house operations in a busy catering kitchen. This role involves organizing prep work for events of all sizes, managing kitchen staff, maintaining inventory, ensuring food quality, and working closely with the sales and events teams to meet event timelines and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily food production and prep schedules for upcoming events (weddings, corporate functions, etc.)
Translate event invoices (BEOs) into detailed prep and packing lists
Coordinate with Event Staff to ensure smooth execution
Lead and schedule prep cooks, tasting cooks, and support staff in the commissary kitchen
Maintain high standards for food safety, cleanliness, and equipment use (HACCP, ServSafe)
Track and manage inventory, place food orders, and minimize waste
Maintain organized systems for labeling, storing, and transporting food safely
Communicate clearly with the culinary and operations teams regarding timelines, changes, and staffing
Adapt quickly to last-minute changes in event scope or menu and provide solutions on the fly
Qualifications:
2+ years in a management role, with at least 1 year in catering or high-volume production
Deep understanding of event prep logistics and off-site food service challenges
Proven ability to manage and motivate a diverse kitchen team
Familiarity with catering BEOs, packing systems, and event timelines
Possesses ServSafe Certification (or equivalent) or is willing to obtain it.
Strong organizational and time management skills
Calm, solutions-oriented mindset under pressure
Culinary degree or equivalent experience required
