The Ordway: The Ordway is the arts epicenter of Saint Paul, Minnesota, and one of the leading nonprofits performing arts centers in the country. Founded on the belief that performing arts should be wide-ranging and accessible to all, the Ordway is home to a variety of performances that encompass the finest in Broadway musicals, concerts, dance and vocal artists. Known as the most comfortable place to catch a show in Minnesota, the Ordway includes a magnificent 1,900-seat Music Theater, a state-of-the-art 1,100-seat Concert Hall and spacious lobbies. Position Purpose: The Building Engineer is a full time, non-exempt position, and serves as a member of the building engineer crew. This is a hands on position serving as a working member of the engineering crew.

Work jurisdiction, conditions of employment, wage policies and benefits are governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 70 and Ordway Center for the Performing Arts.

Reports to: Chief Facility Engineer

Key Performance Areas:

Inspects, coordinates and performs installation, repairs, and maintenance of building engineering equipment, HVAC automation system, facilities and physical plant.

Works in conjunction with other engineering department personnel in the performance and execution of department operations.

Must be available on an on call basis as needed.

Other Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Technical training in building automation systems, maintenance and fire emergency systems.

Five years’ experience in building maintenance.

Experience with building automation and fire and life safety systems. (Honeywell HVAC automation system and Simplex fire and life safety systems preferred).

Must have strong maintenance skill/knowledge of plumbing, carpentry (wood and metal), painting, electrical (single phase 120v thru three phase 480v).

Must have the ability to team build and motivate staff

Must be able to work varied hours.

Must have good written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with District Energy heating and cooling services preferred.

Functional ability with Microsoft Office products.

The ability to learn and adapt to other software technologies and systems.

Building automation systems, reverse osmosis, systems, fire and life safety systems, large air handlers, motors, pumps, air compressors and associated control systems.

Hand tools and power tools.
