We are seeking an embedded Software Engineer Intern with a strong academic background and a passion for self-improvement. Someone who is excited by the prospect of learning and applying innovative technologies to tackle complex problems, someone who is passionate about building great products, and who thrives in a continuous improvement growth culture. As part of our team, y ou will sit at the nexus of Electrification, Autonomy and Data. Y ou will contribute significantly to the delivery of our award-winning products & services around the world , collaborating with our teams to drive new sources of data-driven value creation for Tennant Company and our customers. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participate in Embedded software activities on novel programs

Develop embedded software using C/C for RTOS- & Linux-based embedded systems

Design, develop and test scalable and maintainable code in support of new designs. Create and maintain design documentation, including context diagrams and flowcharts

Participate in Design Reviews

Design systems to meet regulatory requirements

Work closely with product managers, architects, and other cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into well-designed, implemented, and documented solutions.

Document software architecture. Conduct Proof-of-Concept (POCs) to de-risk development.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

BS in Electrical, Software, Computer Engineering, Physics or Mathematics with relevant background in embedded software development. MS preferred.

Experience developing in embedded Linux OS.

Experience with protocols such as CAN, USB, TCP/IP, RS 485/232, SPI, I2C, HTTP.

Experience reading PCB schematics and providing feedback to Electrical Engineers.

Exposure to requirements management tools, defect tracking SCM tools (ex. Bitbucket, GitHub).

Exposure to Unit and System integration testing

SKILLS:

Ability to combine complex technical information with business conditions into a coherent picture and present it to team members, internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to build consensus and influence others through effective communication skills.

Ability to systematically and methodically solve tough technical challenges.

Willingness to dive into tough problems and take ownership for designing/implementing solutions.

Willingness to continuously improve self, products, and team. Willingness to learn innovative technologies on the go.
