Engineering Manager
- The Optum Digital team is in search of a Engineering Manager for Web Development.
- The Engineering Manager serves as the Agile program leader and will be responsible for leading the Agile transformation and for the successful execution of an Agile team.
- The Engineering Manager to support a scrum team and the over-all delivery and reporting within their Programs.
- This position requires individuals who have previously been successful Technology Leads on highly distributed teams, have led Agile/Scrum adoption in the past, and have experience in software delivery as well as those who can drive and influence change and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Accountable for the delivery and reporting of several Scrum Teams within a Program
- Establishing program level cadence and driving program level ceremonies (e.g. PI Planning, release train retrospectives, backlog refinement)
- Work with other program leaders to drive the definition and refinement of the program backlog
- Provide leadership, direction, and coaching to the Scrum Master at the team level
- Ensure cross-value stream coordination and collaboration
- Serve as an escalation for impediment removal for the Scrum Master
- Maintain metrics that provide visibility to stakeholders on program-level progress and quality
- Act as a liaison to assigned program manager and project managers. Take responsibility for managing dependencies between the program team and third parties, release managers, or between the team and other scrum teams.
- Develop, coach, and mentor team members to advance their skills and career
- Provide real time feedback to the methodology team based on experiences with software delivery teams
- Work cross functionally to align strategy, methodology and execution
- Be a change agent and foster a learn by doing environment
- Well versed in latest technologies and tools to lead the team in technical front, including both front end and back end.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of IT experience including development. Experience should include React / Angular frameworks.
- 3+ years of experience as a Tech Lead, Tech Product Owner or Agile Coach
- 2+ years of leading/managing people
- 2+ years of experience working on large scale, multiple Scrum team projects
- 2+ years of experience working on mixed methodology program (Scrum interfacing with Waterfall from a dependency perspective)
- Experience with Rally (CA Agile Central)
- Solid understanding of software development processes and procedures
- Understanding of backlog tracking, burn down metrics, velocity, and task definition
- Understanding of incremental delivery and the value of metrics
- Excellent English communication skills in written and spoken form
- Solid interpersonal skills, passion around facilitation, empowerment, and servant leadership
- Familiarity with common Agile practices, service-oriented environments, and better development practices
