POSITION OVERVIEW Directs and coordinates activities of business organizations in the Enclos family of companies to protect their legal interests, aids in formulating and administering organization policies and helps to facilitate the achievement of the corporation's goals and objectives. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Understands and analyzes all risks the corporation faces and ensures such risks are either acceptable from a corporate point of view or are being managed through legal efforts or business practices.
Works directly with the business leaders to prepare business contracts, leases, purchase orders, and various related documents. Ensures these business tools meet company guidelines and legal parameters.
Represents the corporation in litigation and other legal proceedings.
Acts as agent of the corporation in various transactions. Interprets laws, rulings, and regulations research as appropriate and provides recommendations on issues to executive management.
Develop and present training materials on legal related topics for corporate directors, management, and employees, including Crisis Management and best practices.
Effectively uses outside counsel; creates goals for the mission of outside counsel; determines level of services and fees commensurate with goals; keeps in-house those tasks that are best or most efficiently performed in house.
Customizes legal advice with the understanding of Enclos culture and business processes, business goals and bargaining position with other entities.
Reviews bid documents from a legal perspective and develops appropriate qualifications for bids.
REQUIREMENTS
J.D., or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licensed to practice law in Minnesota (or other state appropriate for Enclos activities)
Sound business judgement, strong communication and negotiation skills, and effective
Ability to prioritize and handle numerous matters and meet demanding deadlines.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex legal documents.
Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to company leadership.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
Ability to apply such concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive amount of information and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Proficient with Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software and Database software.
