Assist in the field and office by learning to understand survey requests from other departments.

Assist in the field and office by learning to review plans and notes to eliminate errors.

Assist by learning and understanding the procedures to collect different types of survey data.

Assist with the procedures of vehicle maintenance, as well as assisting with procuring supplies for daily work responsibilities.

Assist with locate control and set up basic equipment (tripods, bipods, backsights, etc.).

Assist with set up and collect survey data with a total station.

Assist by learning how to set up and collect survey data with a GPS/VRS receiver.

Examples of work for this vacancy related to Snow and Ice :

Maintains roadways for snow and ice control

Prepares and inspects winter equipment

Performs preseason snow route inspection and performs post storm cleanup

Performs winter stockpile setup and transfer of anti-icing and de-icing chemicals

Performs all work related to installing, repairing, maintaining, and removing snow fences; replacing mailboxes

Maintains documentation on snow and ice data for accurate reporting of inventory and resource management

Performs traffic control set-ups and/or provides notification to dispatch of disabled vehicles

Minimum Qualifications

Valid Driver’s License at the time of hire. Ability to obtain a Class B License with no air brake restriction and tanker endorsement within six months from date of hire, or by August 2025.

Must have written and oral communication skills sufficient to keep records and read and interpret directions.

Must have the ability to learn the knowledge of heavy equipment, capabilities, and uses.

Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information; communicate with employees and the general public in-person or via two-way radio and other electronic devices; and to maintain routine written logs and simple records.

Preferred QualificationsPrevious MnDOT experience working as a Laborer or Transportation Associate.Physical RequirementsA pre-placement physical examination is required for this position.
