Operational Training Manager

Overview and Essential FunctionsThe Training Manager is responsible for the ongoing development and success of the Company’s field employee training and development program. This position is responsible for identifying, assessing, developing, implementing, managing and maintaining an effective training program in the spirit of continuous organizational improvement. It works closely with TelCom’s Operations and Compliance teams (EHS and HR) to establish and maintain training programs that are focused on the efficient, policy-compliant and safety-focused operational training needs of the Company.What will you do?

Ensures strategic alignment of the Operational Training department with business values, all policies, procedures, needs, goals and objectives;

Evaluates organizational and individual performance to ensure training offered is appropriate to addressing specific problems, meeting changing business needs and improving individual performance;

Identifies training needs by consulting with all appropriate stakeholders, utilizing needs assessments as necessary;

Develops and delivers training solutions that meet all safety, risk and operational efficiency expectations of the Company;

Selects and manages training resources, including working with both internal employees and external vendors to develop and deliver training initiatives;

In conjunction with Human Resources, hires and effectively leads department team members;

Maintains a keen understanding of training trends, developments and best practices;

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education, safety, human resources-related discipline or similar and 4-7 years of Foreman-level telecommunications construction experience, or combination of education and experience;

2 or more years of Project Management and/or Supervisory experience;

Current DOT health card. Class A CDL Driver’s License is preferred;

Ability to read, analyze and interpret business documents, contracts, prints and descriptions;

Basic math skills including fractions, ratios, proportions and percentages;

Ability to effectively present to individuals, large and small groups of people from all areas of the company, vendors, customers and the public;

Familiarity and comfort utilizing both traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, OTJ or classroom training, e-learning, workshops, simulations, etc);

Proven leadership in a cross functional team environment;

Proficient use of Google applications including but not limited to Gmail, Google Sheets and Docs as well as

project management, database and internet services;

Travel throughout the TelCom footprint is required;

Excellent, professional and adaptable written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills that resonate with individuals at all levels both inside and outside of the organization;

Self-motivated and driven with the ability to work independently on assigned tasks with minimum guidance.

Frequently perform routine and repetitive tasks with hands, arms, feet and/or legs, from heavy equipment operation to computer keyboard and mouse.
