Program, set up, and operate a Brown & Sharpe and Hexagon coordinate measuring machine (CMM) and read and interpret CAD models, technical drawings and specifications including GD&T

Perform inspections, perform manual layout using surface plates and height stands, inspect using hand gages (micrometers, calipers, and pin gages), interpret blueprints, specifications, sketches including geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) requirements.

Support other Inspection areas as required (production, non-destructive test, etc.)

Optimize inspection methods (e.g., precision & accuracy vs. speed) and work within quality management system and safety standards.

Train colleagues/technicians/inspectors, support general quality activities including visual inspections, final and receiving inspections.

Create part/program setup instruction and supporting documentation to adequately instruct inspection personnel on the loading and execution of automated inspection programs.

Utilize the CMM to qualify the program and ensure parts inspected are dimensionally conforming.

Follow Quality Procedures for Receiving Inspection, In-Process, Final and Source Inspection Processes to ensure compliance of part dimensions on the CMM prior to acceptance.

Select CMM measurement strategies and techniques to maximize repeatability and reproducibility of dimensional parameters.

Manage completion of CMM programming projects for new product introduction

Troubleshoot programming errors and proof CMM programs.

Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and report them.

Minimum Qualifications

Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work under minimal supervision.

Ability to read & interpret detail prints and drawings.

Good mathematical 3-dimensional spatial and skills.

Manage completion of CMM programming projects for new product introduction.

Troubleshoot programming errors and proof CMM programs utilizing PC-DMIS software.

Ability to distinguish and differentiate contrast between colors.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with manufacturing engineering, precision inspection personnel and shop floor employees.

Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.

Must be able to fluently read and write English.

Capable of using all required trade tools, (i.e. optical comparator, calipers, micrometers, surface profilometer, gauge blocks, pin gauge, height gages, ring gages, go/no go gages, check fixtures etc.) to inspect parts for accuracy.

Must be able to follow instructions and work effectively, both independently and as a member of a team.

Ability to read and interpret GD&T symbols and dimensional tolerances on drawings.

Qualification/Experience Needed:

8 years of Quality Experience Required

U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required

Preferred Experience Needed:

2-year technical degree

Brown & Sharpe / Hexagon CMM programming experience

Experience and proficiency in the programming of CMMs (from scratch), preferably utilizing Hexagon PC-DMIS software.

Ability to create, develop, edit, and implement new CMM programs on complex parts.

Experience and strong programming knowledge using PC-DMIS software, Smart Profile and GEO TOL.

Experience in product development, manufacturing, or inspection within an AS9100 certified aerospace company.

Advanced understanding of typical quality tools including 8d, statistical process control, FMEA and control plans.

Proficient using CAD models and drawings to write programs.

Familiarity with Smart Profile
