The Quality Engineer II is the primary quality focal for production and value stream support. Some of the primary responsibilities of the Product Quality Engineer include: Customer returned product investigation, delivering quality corrective action and site-wide read across, non-conforming material review, change review board support, manufacturing improvement initiatives, quality control and improvement initiatives (PPAP, Zero Defect Plan), and new product introduction support.What You Will Do:
Analytical Problem Solving: Basic understanding of problem-solving methods – i.e. 8D, root cause analysis, Apollo, etc. – and the associated statistical tools used to analyze problems.
New Product Development and Launch: Some knowledge of the key phases and requirements of an effective new product development and launch system – i.e. APQP, Stride, etc. – and has basic knowledge of the associated tools such as PFMEA, Control Plans, Characteristic Matrix, Gage Capability, Process Capability, Process Flow, Preventive Maintenance, Machine Runoff, etc.
Quality Management Systems: Basic understanding of the standards, implementation, and certification process of Quality Management Systems such as AS/EN9100, ISO-9001, or any other industry-specific standard or regulation. Basic understanding of the requirements of customer-specific Quality System certification programs. Support the organization in audit preparation and corrective action.
Continuous Improvement: Basic knowledge of the tools and techniques of Lean Manufacturing such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S - Workplace Organization, Continuous Flow Manufacturing, Set-up Reduction, Total Productive Maintenance, Mistake Proofing, etc.
Cost of Quality: Basic Understanding the concept of Cost of Quality and specifically of the Cost of Non-Conformance. Uses Cost of Quality report to identify opportunities for improvement and waste reduction. Ability to solve problems of limited scope and complexity.
Ensuring successful product release through quality tools (ETQP, PPAP, MPR).
Timely RCCA for product escapes.
FAI reviews.
Business process enhancements through continuous improvement initiatives.
Nonconforming material review and approval
Less than 10% domestic travel may be required.
Qualifications You Must Have:
1 year of experience working in a manufacturing support environment.
Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Bachelor’s degree in STEM or a related field.
Experience in highly regulated environments.
Knowledge of AS9100, AS9145, ISO
