Assess financial requirements to launch products and potential return on investmentConsult with engineering regarding packaging of features, cost estimates or requirements, physical/mechanical look and features of productsDefine the product strategy and roadmap.Manage global product portfolio and evaluate market potential for new productsAnalyze relevant market trends and identify end-user / customer needsDefine target markets and generate market data including in-depth and insightful analysis of competitors, pricing, positioning, etc.Support the Product DevelopmentInitiate the Product Engineering Process (PEP), outline the Commercial Requirements Specification (CRS), and provide support throughout the entire PEP for all designated procedural stagesWork with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunitiesLead cross-functional teams to create products and manage the product development process from concept through development and manufacturingEnsure product data sheets accurately reflect specifications and capabilities of productDrive the Product Introduction on the market:Deliver product messaging, positioning, features, benefits and USPs for end-users and customersPartner with sales and marketing to prepare and deliver presentations and materials that educate sales teams and customers on product functionalities and featuresParticipate in key sales and voice of customer initiatives as requiredCreate, author, publish and disseminate marketing collateral to all relevant parties, both external and internalWork with internal teams to plan trade shows and create effective demonstrationsAttend trade shows such as InfoComm, NAMM, Prolight + Sound, etc.Train sales force, dealer and rep firms on product capabilities and featuresResponsible for the Product Life CycleCommunicate technical requirements and features to engineering staff, approve necessary Engineering Change OrdersDevelop and manage product mid-life correction or end of life strategies as appropriateMonitor market acceptance, track revenue and profit performanceIdentify partnering opportunities for complementary third-party products to broaden product lineNegotiate contracts and licenses for new technologies or productsResponsible for Costing/ForecastingMeet with procurement and inventory control staff to coordinate product build and sales forecastsAdjust forecasts and schedules based on ability to build and current sales activity
