ENGINEER - Guest Facing Devices Infrastructure Similar Industry Titles and Key Words: Systems Engineer, Payment Engineer, Hardware Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Software Development Engineer, DevOps Engineer, InfraCode (IaC) EngineerAbout This OpportunityAs an engineer on the Field Engineering Team, you will contribute to the DevOps ecosystem optimizing all 53,000 cash register payment devices in Target stores. In this role, primary contributions will align with the Guest Payment Devices. Prospective candidates will have experience in software development with eagerness to learn, while embracing the Growth Mindset. Share experiences in an Agile CI/CD environment, managing software-defined infrastructure, gathering story details, and collaborating with partner teams to develop and implement solutions in an iterative manner. Understanding cloud-ready automated application deployments is a plus. - Fully Participate in an Agile DevOps environment helping to resolve hardware, operational, infrastructure and application incidents escalated from support teams during on-call rotations
- Drive problem root cause analysis through operating system and application log investigation
- Participation in payment hardware device evaluation and selection; RFI/RFP
- IT inventory and lifecycle management of serialized, regulated payment devices
- Develop enterprise visibility / proactive solutions with tools such as Kafka, Kibana, Grafana
- Develop automated preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and quickly resolve problems to ensure infrastructure and application stability
- BA/BS or equivalent experience
- Experience with one or more object oriented programing language; Java/Kotlin preferred
- Three years of relevant infrastructure & software development experience
- Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise
- Stays current with new and evolving technologies
- Experience with payment terminals in-stores
- One or more of the following programming languages: Java, Kotlin, and Python scripting
- Proficiency using, supporting, and configuring Linux devices
- Familiar with compliance needs such as PCI, P2PE certification, etc.
- Vendor management and strong verbal/written communication skills
- Experience with relational DBs such as PostgreSQL and/or NoSQL technologies
- Use of source control, build, test, and deployment tools such as Github, Drone/Vela
- Critical thinking supporting issue detection and resolving through automated solutions
