Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Event Planner role in the higher education industry, based in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, United States. The chosen candidate will be responsible for coordinating both internal and external events, collaborating with various teams, and ensuring smooth execution of each event. Responsibilities: Manage all aspects of event planning, including liaising with external clients and internal teams. Coordinate and monitor event timelines and ensure deadlines are met. Initiate, coordinate and/or participate in all efforts to publicize events. Secure and book a suitable venue or location. Coordinate event logistics, including registration and attendee tracking, presentation and materials support and pre- and post-event evaluations. Keep inventory of backdrops, projectors, computers, and other display materials. Work with the technology and facilities teams to ensure all necessary arrangements are made for each event. Develop and manage event budgets, and provide periodic progress reports to staff directors for each event project. Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process. Serve as liaison with vendors on event-related matters. Requirements Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Marketing, or a related field. Proven experience in planning and coordinating events, preferably within the higher education sector. Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with event management software and tools for event processing, promotion, and production. Demonstrable skills in managing timelines for large scale events, corporate events, charity events, and community events. Familiarity with marketing events and recruiting events. Strong customer service skills to manage relationships with key stakeholders. Ability to perform data entry tasks and organize files efficiently. Must have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle event-related issues. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for liaising with clients, vendors, and staff. Able to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet event needs. Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to event planning. Professionalism and an eye for detail. Ability to handle stress and remain calm under pressure.
