The Cost Showback team plays a strategic role within Target Technology by providing cost transparency to teams accountable for those costs no matter where they are running (public or private cloud). We do this through building and maturing our FinOps capabilities using both cloud native and custom tooling. As an Engineer within Cost Showback, you will have the opportunity to start your FinOps career. Your role will start in the beginning process of Infrastructure showback partnering with our tech partners to build out cost models and data schemes to understand who is consuming, how much, and what is the cost of our technologies at Target. You will have an opportunity to provide data analytic capacity ensuring high quality cost data for our customers and helping identify strategic optimization.As you learn more about our partner team's needs, your role will help drive self service via automation of those patterns and use cases to manage their daily fin ops tasks. This will involve supporting the existing FinOps platform and tooling we have built…but you will not be alone! You will have the opportunity to tap into knowledge from the existing FinOps team learning/applying your knowledge of data & engineering skills. Ensure high quality cloud cost data available for customers via our data pipelines
Desing, build, and test tooling that eliminates toil, and repetitive tasks by our team and our partner teams.
Provide data analytics on usage, cost, and other data points with partnership of our tech partner teams.
Create visibility of those optimization patterns via our tooling
Work on reports for management and decision makers in terms of cost
Participate in cost governance processes as needed
Analyze / Exploit savings mechanisms of cloud providers (committed use discounts)
Consult with / help teams understand their infrastructure use and cost data
Develop a common understand of Target's technology stack in relation to cost and efficiency
Experience and Qualifications:
Experience with Git
Basic programing / scripting skills (Python, go, front end development)
Data Analytic / Science Concepts
Report Writing
Cloud Computing Services (GCP (Google Cloud Platform), Azure or AWS (Amazon Web Services))
About you:
4-year degree or equivalent experience
Software development experience
Working knowledge on package-specific configuration and deployment along with ability to build custom solutions
Demonstrates strong proficiency in core development platforms
Builds strong commitment within the team to support the appropriate teampriorities
Clearly communicates Agile concepts to partners within product team
Demonstrates a solid understanding of the impact of own work on the team and/or guests
Writes and organizes code
Knowledge of the different data structures in your chosen programming language and how to apply them.
Influences and applies data standards, policies, and procedures
Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise
Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education
Passionate about technology and how cloud costing works
This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
