JSND Job Order #896492;Valley Lake Boys Home - rural Breckenridge is seeking a Youth Worker - could be full time or part time.Supervision of young men, ages 12-18. Plan and implement activities, transport to appointments, provide resident services in a wide variety of areas.This position will work a variety of shifts including evenings, holidays and weekends.Night shifts (1-2 per week) Evenings (typically 4pm-10pm) and weekends (Sat and Sun 6am-10pm)

Weekends could be one per month, two per month, or every! Could be 8am-10pm or even half day shifts.

We are looking for people to cover anything BUT 6am-4pm weekdays!Must be at least 21 years old and be able to pass a background check. (valid driver's license is expected but not necessary)

Pay is listed at $16-18 per hour and $1.50 pay differential for weekends. Full-time and part-time weekend availability.Contact Joanna at 218 643-4036 or email:[email protected] job description below:On-line Supervision:

Read the log book to learn of events since last shift you worked.

Provide a stable, mature, healthy, and responsible adult image to serve as a role model for the residents.

Establish and maintain a therapeutic staff/resident relationship.

Model, teach, and encourage social skills and healthy forms of social expression.

Monitor and encourage personal appearance and hygiene for the residents.

Drive Valley-Lake Boy's Home, Inc., vehicles to activities and appointments.

Supervise the daily schedule and oversee resident responsibilities (chores, room cleaning, homework, community service, summer work program.)

Set appropriate limits for the residents.

Distribute medications at the appropriate medication delivery time.

Perform simple first aid procedures after being certified by a trainer.

Determine consequences when residents exceed limits or break rules.

Enforce consistently, firmly, and fairly all resident policies and rules.

Organize and supervise required recreational activities.

Prepare meals when the cook is unavailable.

Supervise residents between classes, at meal time, and while entering/exiting the building during school.

Assist residents with schoolwork if needed.

Answer phones and ensure messages get to the intended recipient.

Supervise residents when in the public and at events held off premises.

Paperwork:

From direct observation, write a comprehensive summary of the day's events, group attitude, and behaviors in the log book. This includes any appointments, visitors, activities, meetings, staff changes, etc.

From direct observation, write a daily evaluation of each resident's behavior and attitude in the dailies.

Complete the recreation log, medication log, community service sheets, summer work program log, and any special incident reports as required.

Log any new medications for residents in the medication log.

Log any money a resident receives in the money log book, and put money in locked money box.

Do an initial intake of a resident if Executive Director or Program Director is unavailable.

Make copies of any Valley-Lake Boy's Home forms as needed.

General:

Perform all duties in a professional manner.

Maintain a good working relationship with co-workers, placing agents, and parents.

Ensure all Valley-Lake Boy's Home, Inc., policies and procedures are followed.

Attend all staff meetings.

Attend all mandatory scheduled training sessions.

Report any maintenance needs or safety-related issues to the Executive Director.

Qualifications:Be over 21 years old.
