PotlatchDeltic Corporation is seeking a Safety Manager at our lumber manufacturing facility in Bemidji, MN. The Safety Manager will implement policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws in occupational safety and health. Consults with company management, contractors and other professionals in the health and safety fields. Provide technical or management training to company personnel to meet or exceed OSHA standards. Develop risk control capabilities specific to company hazards not covered under OSHA state or federal standard regulations, to assist management in reducing or eliminating the risk of incident or injury. The Safety Manager reports to the Mill Manager.

The salary range for this position is $82,761.00 - $137,935.00

This position is bonus eligible, with a target value of 10% of salary.

Leadership & Compliance:

- Ensure safety compliance with workplace and safety standards for Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), Minnesota OSHA, National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards.

- Provide advice to mill leadership team on programs to control or eliminate chemical, physical, environmental, and biological hazards.

- Conduct required periodic sampling, testing, monitoring, and inspections related to compliance activities for Industrial Hygiene (IH) safety at required intervals and within required timelines.

- Administer Safety Data Sheets utilizing MSDS online system and new chemical approval process.

- Develop, update, and maintain mill Job Safety and Environmental Analyses (JSEA) and Safe Operating Procedures (SOP).

- Maintain and update mill lockout procedures and ensure proper posting and communication of procedures.

- Implement and support the SLAM (Stop, Look, Assess, Manage) process for assessing workplace hazards.

- Maintain emergency response procedures.

- Maintain supplies as necessary for safety, first aid and AED readiness.

- Lead incident investigation, review and follow up process.

- Ensure change analysis is completed for mill projects.

- Attend and support safety-related meetings.

- Ensure mill and/or company wide communication on all safety-related information.

- Assist with safety audits at other PotlatchDeltic facilities.

Training and Procedures:

- Develop, update, and present team member, new hire, and contractor safety training.

- Must be familiar with online computer-based systems to manage safety, contractors, and training. Available to assist employees with basic safety-related computer questions.

- Develop, maintain, and update mill lockout procedures and ensure proper posting and communication of procedures.

- Maintain records of all safety-related training.

Maintain MN STAR (VPP) Status:

- Oversee weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual safety audits.

- Ensure audit findings are completed in a timely manner.

- Manage all OSHA and MNStar reporting requirements.

- Ensure mill meets current safety regulations.

Requirements:

- Associate Degree in safety or related field required OR a minimum of three years of related experience.

- Possess knowledge of industrial safety practices and principles including OSHA regulations, the VPP program, accident investigation and safety training required.

- Minimum of (1) one year experience in a leadership responsibility role.

- Basic proficiency of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access).

- Detail-oriented; proficiency for accuracy; dependable; positive attitude; team player.

- Ability to multi-task and take ownership of assigned projects.

- Knowledge of Industrial Hygiene (IH) monitoring.

- Excellent communication and presentation skills at all levels of the organization.

- Ability to lead by example.

Working Conditions and Essential Physical Functions:

- Must be able to work in hot, dusty, cold, wet, dirty, confined working environment.

- Ability to traverse rough ground, climb or descend stairs and ladders and to work at heights.

- Work includes both in an office and outdoor setting in all seasons.

- Ability to travel to other facilities as needed to perform audits and inspections.

- Extended periods of sitting required.

- General fatigue from computer use.
