This position exists to provide a high level of civil engineering expertise, leadership and support within the Plan Development Section to support consultant final design activities.

Under limited supervision provide support for all advanced functions required to prepare moderate to major detailed highway construction/transportation plans to ensure compliance with MnDOT standards and policies.

Provide direction to consultants for the development of detailed construction/transportation plans so that accuracy and timeliness is assured and proceed on schedule. Manage consultant design reviews. Manage final project submittals to preletting.

Minimum QualificationsMinimum Qualifications for Engineer Senior:To qualify for Engineer Senior, applicants must meet all the following:

Licensure as a professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID). (If obtaining licensure through Comity, a temporary permit from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.)

Minimum Qualifications for Engineer 2 Graduate:To qualify for Engineer 2 Graduate, applicants must meet all the following:

A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university or its equivalency as rated by NCEES/EAC.

A passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.

Two years post-graduation civil engineering work.

Please Note:

A master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university or its equivalency as rated by NCEES/EAC substitutes for one year of post-graduate civil engineering work.

OR

Received a passing score on the Minnesota Principals & Practices of Civil Engineering (PE) Exam.

In addition to the preceding minimum qualifications, you will be assessed on the following if interviewed:

Verbal skills

Knowledge experience with HPDP

MNDOT Standards and Policies

MNDOT standard construction specifications

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge and experience with construction plan assembly and standards

CADD Standards

Utility coordination

Quality Assurance / Quality Check process/experience
