Description We are looking for a diligent Sr. Cost Accountant to join our team in the Medical Manufacturing industry, based in Arden Hills, Minnesota. In this role, you will be tasked with managing various cost-accounting responsibilities, including work order close and variances, standard costing, and inventory valuation. This role will also offer the opportunity to enhance existing processes and provide insightful analysis to our operations partners.Responsibilities: Assist with all cost-accounting duties, including work order closure and variance analysis Conduct regular cycle count adjustments to maintain accurate inventory records Oversee the implementation of standard costing procedures to streamline manufacturing performance measurement Analyze cost of goods sold (COGS) and inventory valuation to ensure financial accuracy Collaborate with the manufacturing team to help them understand relevant financial data and identify high ROI improvement opportunities Develop proactive metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the team to monitor Assist in the implementation of a new system (Epicor) to optimize costing procedures Work on improving the business’ ability to track variances; specifically focusing on scrap and labor efficiencies Conduct in-depth cost analysis to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction Leverage your cost accounting experience in the manufacturing sector to bring valuable insights and improvements to our financial processes.Requirements Proven experience in Cost Accounting within a manufacturing environment, preferably within the Scientific Instrument Manufacturing industry. Proficiency in Cost Analysis, able to identify and implement strategies for cost reduction. Strong understanding of Standard Costing processes and principles. Experience in Cost Variance and Variance Analysis, able to identify discrepancies and suggest corrective actions. Knowledge of Inventory Analysis, able to monitor and report on inventory levels and costs. Experience in Manufacturing Cost Accounting, familiar with accounting procedures specific to manufacturing operations. Ability to work cross-functionally with other departments to streamline processes and ensure cost efficiency. Excellent analytical skills, able to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools. Strong communication skills, able to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Professional certification such as Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.
