Peninsula Powder Coating seeks a hands-on, team-oriented Production Supervisor to lead our first shift operations in Baraga, Michigan. This is a leadership role at the heart of our powder coating process—perfect for someone who’s equal parts coach, problem-solver, and quality champion.
You’ll be responsible for guiding a crew of technicians and general laborers through each step of the process: from prepping and masking to coating, curing, and inspection. Your leadership will help us maintain the high standards our customers expect, while keeping safety, efficiency, and morale top of mind. WHAT YOU WILL DO.
Oversee all aspects of first shift powder coating production, including pre-treatment, masking, hanging, coating, curing, packaging, and inspection.
Lead, train, and motivate a team of technicians and laborers to meet quality and output goals.
Monitor workflow, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and adjust as needed to meet job specs and deadlines.
Perform quality checks and resolve coating issues like orange peel, faraday cage effects, or uneven film builds.
Maintain a clean, organized work area using lean manufacturing practices.
Ensure all team members follow safety standards and company policies.
Coordinate with maintenance on equipment upkeep and functionality.
Track production metrics, downtime, and performance data for reporting to leadership.
Promote cross-training to build a flexible and capable team.
Champion a culture of respect, accountability, and continuous improvement.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.
3 or more years of experience in powder coating or industrial production, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of powder coating materials, methods, curing, and quality control—or a fast learner able to get up to speed quickly.
Effective communication skills, both on the floor and with leadership.
Calm under pressure and confident in making decisions.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Theory of Constraints, and 5S a big plus.
Basic computer skills for tracking production and using ERP systems.
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or associate degree is a plus.

Experience in ISO or other quality management systems.
Mechanical aptitude or troubleshooting skills in a production environment.
