About this unit2 West is comprised of a twenty-three bed Med/Surg Unit and a twenty-three bed Post-Surgical Unit. We have a very friendly staff who are welcoming and willing to mentor new RNs. We manage medium to high acuity patients with a 5 to 6 patient ratio. Our team is passionate about patient care and shared governance.About Taylor HospitalA Magnet-designated hospital that is a recognized health care leader serving the area since 1977. It offers specialty services that include 24-hour emergency care, wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a surgical pavilion, a pain management clinic, orthopedic surgery, an inpatient rehabilitation facility and full-service radiology, including advanced CT with cardiac scoring, fixed MRI including pacemaker, cinema vision and ultrasound (MSK and elastography).Scope of workThe Clinical Nurse Manager is an experienced leader responsible for managing assigned areas and services and supervising assigned patient care staff to promote the creation of a center of excellence for staff recruitment and retention and clinical and business outcomes. The Nurse Manager is responsible to ensure safe and effective delivery of patient care and clinical outcomes, compliance with regulatory, administrative, and clinical standards, and policies and procedures. The Nurse Manager serves as a chief retention and safety officer. He/she ensures that safety and quality standards are upheld by effective use of data and technology to make decisions and proactively mitigates unnecessary risks for his/her area of responsibility. The Nurse Manager creates and ensures a desirable, safe work environment that enables the organization to meet or exceed its mission and goals. He/she models the way to foster communication and collaboration with physicians, staff, patients, and other departments. Role specific competencies, responsibilities, roles, and functions are based on the Professional Practice Model. This position reports to the Director of Nursing or above.AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:Under general direction, maintains 24-hour responsibility and accountability for providing leadership and management of a designated patient care unit which promotes quality nursing care, cost effective use of resources and professional growth for nursing staff. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) Required.

Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) Preferred.

Minimum of Three years of relevant clinical nursing experience. Required.

Minimum of one year of formal nursing leadership experience required for external applicants Required.

Minimum of 2 years demonstrated informal leadership experience required for internal applicants, may include but are not limited to: Charge Lead Nurse, Charge Nurse responsibilities, leadership on behalf of unit/site/system at Shared Governance Council, Required.

MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required.

AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required.
