Position: Payroll Lead

Type: Hybrid, with 2-3 days per week remote.

Compensation: $21.00 to $23.00 per hour

Schedule:

40 hours per week with some flexibility.

Monday, Tuesday, Friday required.

One weekend per month required.

Must be available on weekends when payroll is being processed

Working holidays may be required

LaJoy Group is seeking an additional full-time team member that possesses a high level of detail and customer service to work within a growing (and amazing) team. The initial focus of this position is to lead the payroll team, process payroll, assist with problem resolution and maintain a high level of customer service to employees, clients and coworkers.

This position requires 2-3 days per week in the Bay City office with occasional travel to Livonia.

Job Responsibilities

Lead a team of 2-3 team to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.

Process payroll based on hours approved to work and timesheets. Data entry into spreadsheets or appropriate software.

Audit of timesheets, approvals, exceptions to ensure accurate payroll.

Assist with communication to employees and clients, including phone calls, emails and text messages. Main point of contact for urgent or escalated situations.

Problem solving including technical issues and suggest improvements in processes.

Assist with ongoing administrative tasks including audits, mailings, filing, etc.

Coordinate and lead virtual meetings including training and planning sessions.

Work closely with payroll vendor, payroll team, coworkers, management to ensure ongoing communication and continuous process improvement.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED.

Two to three years of previous payroll, billing or accounting experience preferred.

Previous experience with ADP preferred.

Proficient with Microsoft Office, and other Office Applications.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills and ability to relate to internal and external customers and clients, alike, at all levels.

Strong organizational and administrative skills, able to multi-task and stay cool under pressure.

High level of independent problem solving.

Previous experience working with a vulnerable population or customers preferred.
