HED | IDEAS (Intern Development for Engineering and Architecture Students) is an approximate 10-week program that gives aspiring A/E professionals real-world work experiences that introduces them to the many diverse components of an A/E firm. The experience intendeds to complement and not replicate their academic experience.Interns provide junior level support to one or more of HED's ten market sectors. Project work exposure can vary, anywhere from planning and concept development, through design and production and construction administration. Interns also attend a series of workshops that provide introductions to the intricacies of project management, business development and marketing, all crucial to the successful operations of an A/E firm.Interns at HED harness their critical thinking skills, enthusiasm, innovation, passion, energy, and curiosity to make a positive impact through design excellence to make the world a better place. They thrive in a collaborative and kind work environment and remain humbled that we do what we do successfully as a synergistic team. They look to work in an environment of respect and where their ideas and opinions are valued.TYPICAL DUTIESPerform design duties as directed by the project team leader.Support the discipline team leader in the construction documentation process.Perform production documentation using automated drafting (Revit)Develop project details.Interface with other project team members on design coordination assignments.Visit site locations for information gathering purposes as directed.Perform other duties as delegated by the supervisor.Award and project pursuit documentationAttend seminars on project management, marketing, and business development.SKILL, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEPursuit of a bachelor's or master's degreeExcellent written and verbal communication and organization skills.Computer literacy required, Revit and Rhino experience preferred.Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSCapable of traveling to and from project sites for attending client, project, and construction meetings.Ability to access existing and new project sites for observation, investigation, and evaluation purposes.Ability to be present in an office at least twice per week.Ability to use equipment for communication and documentation purposes.Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.#LI-RF1All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, protected veteran status or status as an individual with disability.
