Description:To design and implement process driven, innovative Sealant and Adhesive Application solutions to meet the expectations of customers. Engineer will be required to perform process engineering analysis and feasibility studies of Sealer automation equipment required for the release of customer quotations and execute Sealer and Adhesive Systems business requirements by utilizing this information to meet the customers needs and expectations in the field.60-75% of work is with GM and with Lake Orion coming up they will be supporting them quite a bit. Also supporting Tesla & Lucid and GM's battery plant. Projects last 1 year - 3 years depending on scope & size.
Sealer robots are shipped to U.S. from Japan at the base model
The Process Engineer develops a proposal for the customer on what type of robot they need, what kind, and what goes into the building of the cell
PO is issued to FANUC by customer and they move forward with building the cell, do offline programming, and identifying cycle times
The MOD build is done internally which is also where the vision on the system is incorporated. The buyoff then happens and the customer makes the purchase of the robot system. This takes 8-12 weeks.
Robot system is shipped to the site and installed. This is where the Process Engineer will be required to travel to the customer. Install times could vary as it could be weeks or months depending on size as issues that come up. They will partner with the Install Team (Sergio Baca group) to complete the install. They come home every other weekend.
Buyoff occurs at customer and they do runoff at customer to ensure system works properly
Production support
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform process evaluations, feasibility studies and proposal support prior to the release of
quotations.
Design and implement processes using robots, and a wide variety of applicator products.
Perform project process execution upon receipt of order.
Perform customer demonstrations and develop accurate analysis and presentation materials on the
results of demonstrations.
Be a primary point of contact to customers during system launches
Reliable, consistent attendance required.
Travel: Travel is between 60%-80% in North America and mainly GM plants. They would be traveling during the install of the sealer robots. Associates or Bachelor's Degree
1 year of experience (related co-op is ok) with machine vision, vision system (Cognix, Keyance), high pressure system (3K-5K PSI), hydraulic/pnuematic system, fluid delivery system, shot meters, pumps, dispensers, supply pumps
Previous Simulation (i.e. RoboGuide) or CAD knowledge
Able to mechanically work on a robot (turn a wrench)
Experience working onsite or with a customer
Able to travel 60%-80% of the time
