Position Summary:Guides and mentors the staff indaily activities of decision making for patient care, bed access and familydynamics.Serves as a resource to staffduring the scheduled shift.Assumesdaily functioning of the Patient Care Service areas in accordance withestablished hospital and nursing policies, procedures and standards.Plans, implements, coordinates and evaluatesstaffing and patient care.Initiatesand/or participates in corrective action process and personal development plan.Essential Functionsand Responsibilities:1.Operations
Ensures quality and efficiency in the assigned
Patient Care Service units, on a shift to shift basis.
Monitors and modifies patient flow within the
departments to maximize efficiency, maintain quality, and promote patientsatisfaction.
Functions as the liaison between the Nursing
units, all in house nursing units and ancillary departments.
Adjusts and allocates nursing assignments to
meet the needs of the department.
Assures the reporting, handling, and
documentation of all patient incidents, variances in patient care, issuesrelated to substandard quality of care, safety issues, and actual or potentiallitigation or media situations, occurring during their shift.
Keeps management and staff informed of work-related
matters on a regular basis.2.Clinical
Functions as a role model and mentor to all
staff.
Assists with all aspects of patient care on an
as-needed basis.
Knowledgeable with all equipment, supplies,
forms and procedures utilized on the nursing units. (or unit specific, asapplicable)3.Customer Service
Aware of who our customers are - patients,
patient families, physicians and anyone requiring the services of McLaren PortHuron.
Ensures quality customer service.
Empowers and encourages to address and rectify
customer concerns at the time of occurrence in a manner that is acceptable tothe customer and the hospital.
Knowledgeable with community resources and
referral agencies for customers in need of shelter, food, medications, andfollow-up medical care.(May be unitspecific, as appropriate).
Pro-active in meeting the needs of the patients,
families, physicians and staff.
Performs other related job duties as requested.
Qualifications:Required:
Associates degree. Graduate of a Nursing
program.
Two (2) years of prior work experience in nursing
Current State of
Michigan Registered Nurselicense
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Science in Nursing
Three (3) years of prior work experience in nursing
or Charge Nurse work experience
