Position SummarySupports the environmental health and safety functions by developing, implementing, training, and monitoring safety protocols throughout all departments, including remote locations such as our log yard, manufacturing facility in Wisconsin and additional sites to be determined.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPractice safe working techniques, review and reinforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company to ensure the facilities are properly meeting these guidelinesDevelop, maintain and communicate written safety policies and programsProvide daily guidance and direction in EHS programs at all levels to ensure a common and effective approach through site, plant and PPE walkthroughs and inspectionsResponsible for assisting in the identification of possible losses; evaluating the risk in such loss exposure; developing and implementing a plan to correct or prevent a loss and audit the plan to ensure its effectivenessMaintain and update as needed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all safe work practices and equipment, utilizing them in the day-to-day trainingProvide advice, assist, and audit line management to ensure that effective EHS is implemented and workingDevelop, distribute, log, and document tailored safety trainings and utilize varied methods to enhance safety awareness and educationPerform and contribute to any training plans by conducting employee orientations, emergency response training, and coordination of other safety programs for the operation, such as Lock-Out Tag-Out.Schedule, chair, record and communicate minutes for team driven safety committeeEnsure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and correctedPerform and maintain all environmental testing and regulatory activities in compliance with federal, state, and local lawsPerform accident investigations to prepare detailed reports of on-site accidents, identify causes and track corrective actions that need to be taken for future preventionReview accidents and incidents which occur in the area of responsibility and conduct field audits, reporting and managing the corrective actionsStays abreast on changes in legislation and safety standardsMaintain a through current knowledge of OSHA, MIOSHA and FMSCAMaintain an organized, up-to-date, safety library to include required SDS documents and job hazard analysisMaintain safety supply stock, working with vendors, and attaining multiple quotes to order safety suppliesOrganize initiatives and ensure policies and new initiatives are completed and implemented in a timely fashionAssist with the planning, conducting and maintenance of other various safety training programs and manuals with the human resources division.Other duties and projects as determined by production and overall company business needs. ISO 450001Coaching Responsibilities:None at this timeOther Skills, Abilities, Licenses or CertificationsValid Driver’s LicenseBi-lingual (fluent in Spanish and English) preferredEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year college/Engineering.Five to seven years’ related experience and/or trainingEquivalent combination of education and experienceAttributesAble to speak effectively before groupsAble to persuade and motivate leaders and team members to a safety first cultureStrong attention to detail and accuracyWork EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, team members are occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; explosives; risk of radiation and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
