AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Traffic/Technology Engineer near Novi, MI. This role will have an emphasis of skills and offerings in traffic operations engineering, intelligent transportation system, and transportation system management and operations (TSM&O). The position will be based in our Novi office and support pursuits, projects, and other AECOM staff throughout Michigan and the country. The successful candidate will provide project management, task management, technical team leadership and be responsible for delivery of these services on small to large projects.Our team works with local and national clients to provide services to address their transportation needs across all modes of travel. Typical projects and daily tasks are focused on applying both traditional and emerging practices in these technical areas while creating project deliverables ranging from technology architectures, strategic plans, systems engineering deliverables, plans, specifications, estimates, systems integration support, testing support, and system management or operations related services. The preferred candidate will support our project teams and clients in the strategic application and adoption of emerging technologies and solutions ranging from connected vehicle, automated vehicle, data engineering and solutions, along with practical applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning. The candidate’s services will be applied on tasks that encompass the entire life-cycle of transportation assets from policy and planning to operations and maintenance.The candidate will work collaboratively with others, including other division and office leadership and both manage and develop technical staff or peers, in a dynamic setting to support client engagement, business development, and project execution.The Senior Traffic/Technology Engineer will be responsible for:Serving in various roles on projects functioning as a project manager, technical leader, expert advisor, quality control officer, and/or production team memberWorking collaboratively with a broad range of technical professionals across various backgrounds in transportation to create deliverables for our clients ranging from creating and implementing strategic plans to supporting daily operations and maintenance service contractsInvestigating, understanding, and developing pre-positioning strategies for new clients or projectsIdentifying potential projects or work opportunities and collaborating with client managers to develop and execute project pursuit strategiesDeveloping, expanding, and maintaining client relationships in coordination with state transportation business line leadersMaintaining and expanding local industry presence including actively participating in professional organizationsInterpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments and managing technical elements of large, complex projectsSupporting and actively participating in production of other technical deliverables by the Traffic/ITS/Technology team ranging from plans, specifications, estimates, reports, memorandums, etc.Providing specialized technical input and deliverable production for planning studies and design respective to candidate’s specific areas of expertise.Developing study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others.Participating in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.Developing estimates of costs and schedules for services, solutions, project construction, daily operations, system maintenance and system management of various transportation assets for both projects and pursuits.Performing quality control review of deliverables.Providing input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
