Join us.Job DescriptionThe Transportation Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Construction Inspector II for immediate employment in the Novi, MI office . Our people bring deep industry knowledge to help you succeed.The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Field inspection and oversight of transportation construction projects including bridges, road, traffic signals, signing, ITS and underground facilities.
Monitor and record the work and progress of contractors, while tracking material quality and usage using FieldBook and ProjectWise.
Verify that traffic control measures are implemented and maintained during construction.
Maintain communication between AECOM supervisors and peers, MDOT and local agency personnel, contractor personnel and the general public.
Perform NPDES inspections.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements
High School Diploma + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Valid Driver's license, with good driving record
Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications
Preferred Requirements
Minimum 4+ years of MDOT, other state DOT, or local agency construction inspection experience required; or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience
Basic understanding of construction principles and practices
Ability to document any and all relevant events, issues and variances
Good active written and verbal communication with construction personnel and engineers
Ability to perform basic computations and calculations
Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Works under general supervision.
May assist with training entry-level employees.
Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties.
Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records.
Participates in punch lists, testing, and commissioning.
Tracks quality assurance progress.
Additional Information
Weekend and night work will be required
Overnight travel within the state may be required

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications.
