Position Summary:

Group Sales Managers are responsible for effectively soliciting and becoming familiar with all accounts in his/her market segment. He/she is also responsible for prospecting and closing on assigned accounts/territory to positively impact Shanty Creek Resorts revenues. Also, must identify, research, and solicit group business ideally suited for the amenities/accommodations of The Shanty Creek Resorts with focuses on hands-on, personal attention to detail and the unique needs of each individual groups needs.

Position Duties/Responsibilities:

Maintain regular contact with all existing accounts in the Group Golf market.

Identify and develop new accounts through correspondence, research/prospecting, and personal telephone calls.

Qualify and re-qualify all new and existing accounts.

Maintain a minimum number of qualified calls weekly, including property tours and/or outside sales calls, as assigned by the Director of Sales

Develop a full working knowledge of the Resort operations, including F&B, Guest Services, Conference Services, and Reservations in order to promote everything that Shanty Creek Resorts has to offer.

Conduct professional, thorough site inspections of the hotel with clients, exhibiting key features and benefits of the property to them.

Maintain booking activity in accordance with established individual and departmental goals.

Complete weekly reports as assigned by Director of Sales.

Regularly monitor competitors (rates, services, facilities) and communicate findings to Director of Sales.

Be familiar with and adhere to all Shanty Creek Resorts sales policies and selling techniques with an emphasis on maximizing occupancy and Average Daily Rate (ADR).

Ensure proper entry of client information into Resort computerized sales management system to manage the hotel's business, including (but not limited) generating reports, entering business, blocking space, and building accounts

Travel as necessary for sales calls, sales shows and industry events

Work closely with marketing team in developing appropriate tools/mechanisms to effectively and successfully market and enhance facility image and unique qualities.

Other duties as assigned.

Accountabilities:

Group Sales Managers are responsible for specific market segments. All sales managers have quarterly and annual room revenue, room night and ADR goals as set by the Director of Sales and the VP of Sales & Marketing.

Personal and professional accountability is an important aspect of employment with Shanty Creek Resorts. To that end, all Shanty Creek employees are required to adhere to Resort policies and standards of conduct while providing our guests with the highest level of service possible. No matter their position, all members of our staff may have opportunities to interact with our guests on a daily basis, therefore all employees must:

Meet, on a daily basis, the personal appearance and uniform standards as identified by the Shanty Creek Resorts Employee Handbook.

Utilize all tools provided to ensure that prompt and correct service and information is being given to our guests.

Conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times, maintaining the highest standards of guest service in their interactions with fellow employees, vendors, and most importantly our guests.

This position requires extensive guest contact and decisions that directly affect the experience of Shanty Creek Resorts’ group clients. Adherence to the Resorts’ standards of service is critical to the success of the incumbent.

Professional Experience:

This position requires 2 to 4 years of professional experience in sales, preferably in a hospitality or hotel/resort setting.

Education:

A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in a sales or hospitality related discipline is required for this position.

Required Skills:

Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Strong oral and written communication skills are required.

Must have excellent typing skills (45 wpm minimum)

Extensive skills with MS Word, and Excel are required.
