EJ has an immediate opening for an Production Molder Operator. Second shift: 3:30pm – 2:00am. Will train on first shift for approximately 2 weeks. Location: Muskegon, Michigan SUMMARY Responsible for operating various molding machines and secondary equipment, including robot sanding and machining centers and component assembly. Operators will be weighing material, and then placing material into a heated mold (around 300º). Operation of mechanical presses, using two hand control palm buttons, and removal of parts out of the press. Parts may require flash removal from the part and complete packaging. May include production and prototype part manufacturing. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Works in a manner which demonstrates commitment to personal safety and that of others within the organization, following EJ safety procedures. Understand the safety expectations for the task and always wear the necessary PPE. Working individually or as part of a team. Follow schedule presented (may work at different work cell every day) Pre-shift press and start of shift safety inspections. Setup tooling, fixtures, equipment, and machining tools. Re-fill fiberglass and resin, as necessary. Reads blueprint and follows BOM, work instructions and routing information on production orders. Proof of 1st piece, perform all required start or shift quality checks. Perform process quality checks using micrometers, calipers, and gages. Runs production parts at or above standard rates and update production paperwork. Mold, trim, inspect and finish parts to meet customer requirements. Problem solves issues with the machine setup, part issues or fit and finish. Daily cleaning to keep area clean and free of trip hazards. Preventative maintenance tasks, as instructed. Assembly of hardware components and parts for finished packaging. Material handling of parts, by hand manipulation, use of overhead hoist, movement of palletized parts, including use of a pallet jack and/or forklift. Runs various production molding machines for composite products. Runs fiberglass cutting machine. Performs all other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED required, and six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience with fiberglass preferred. Must be proficient with Blueprint reading and following production instructions. Must be proficient with Calipers, Micrometers, tape measure and other quality measurement tools. Other attributes should include Self- directed requiring minimal supervision, sense of urgency, and attention to detail. Experience with Haas machining centers and multi-Cam routers, a plus. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardization situations.
