Position Summary:Advises administrative leadership on patient care issues while supporting and facilitating an interdisciplinary team approach to the delivery of quality care including: developing patient care programs, policies and procedures, managing quality improvement and patient safety processes designed to enhance the quality of patient care, reduce patient injuries, prevent patient claims, and assure compliance with healthcare accreditation requirements. Establishes goals, objectives, and standards, sets and manages departmental budgets, and promotes professional development of patient care staff. The Director of Nursing also ensures compliance with standards of nursing practice that promotes optimal health care delivery. Responsible for the leadership and direction of patient care service areas including Medical/Surgical Units, Intensive Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, Emergency Department, Surgery, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Pre-Admission Testing, Same Day Surgery, Heart and Vascular Center, Labor and Delivery, and Anesthesia.Required:
Must have current Michigan Registered Nurse license.
Must have either a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in nursing (Successful BSN candidates will be required to obtain a master’s degree in nursing within two (2) years from date of hire or transfer into the position.
Five (5) years nursing management experience with measurable outcomes in:
improving quality and patient safety;
significant budget management;
improving employee engagement
improving patient experience of care.
Preferred:
Five (5) years’ experience in acute care hospital setting and previous experience in process improvement is desirable.
