As these dynamic markets continue to change, and consumers demand lighter, safer, greener and more reliable products, we partner with our customers to deliver highly engineered solutions.The Scientist will support the growth of the Bus, Truck, Rail, Specialty Vehicle and RV markets in North America by developing extensive knowledge of the products, processes, and capabilities that we have in H.B. Fuller facilities currently supporting that market, and others as cross market opportunities arise. Existing products range from hot melts to water and solvent based sealants to extruded rubber-based PSA tapes.This position will take the customers' requirements and translate them to appropriate lab tests so that proposed solutions of either an existing product from another market or a newly developed product can be demonstrated as suitable for the application.This is a lab bench position location in Michigan Center, MI and reports to R&D.Primary ResponsibilitiesComplete projects independently & analyze results.Lead simple stage gate projects with minimal supervision.Contribute original ideas, work on multiple projects and contribute to global project teams.Present & report tech info at internal R&D & cross-functional meetingsLeverage knowledge of raw materials & their impact on product performance in projectsLearn about customer complaints & QNs.Develop plans for research projects or product development programs with oversight from supervisor.Proactively collaborate with peers and support development, sharing, and testing of new ideas with the teamMinimum RequirementsBachelor's degree or international equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math, or a related subject3 years' experience working in a lab setting, doing experiments OR MS and 1 year experience.Independent self-starter who takes ownership and delivers results.Demonstrated capability for innovative and collaborative problem solving.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.Ability to travel up to 10%Preferred RequirementsAbility to design experiments (DOE) with guidance.Knowledge of product application & equipmentKnowledge of SAP & ability to enter formulas, search capabilities, troubleshoot customer issues.Knowledge of Intellectual Property basics & ability to document data in way that can be used for IP (patents/trade secrets).Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $72,417 - $90,521.In addition to your salary, H.B.
