Provides therapeutic and administrative services necessary for the care of the patient,in an interdisciplinary environment consistent with professional practices and ethical standards.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Provides direct patient care, including treatments under supervision of an RN. Specifically:Provides basic patient care services such as ambulating, transferring, and positioning, personal hygiene assistance, prescribed bowel and bladder program assistance, meal set-up, etc.Assists with procedures and treatments within scope of training and competency validation, as directed and supervised by the registered nurse.Assists the registered nurse in ongoing assessment of patient status, developing of plan of care and expected outcomes, implementation and evaluation of plan of care and expected outcomes.Collects, records, and reports pertinent patient data. Reports significant changes in patient status to the registered nurse in a timely and responsive manner.Qualifications:Required:
Currently and actively enrolled in an accredited associate degree or Bachelor of Science (ADN/BSN) nursing program.
Successfully completed both theory and clinical aspects of "Fundamentals of Nursing" and a clinical rotation, preferably medical/surgical nursing.
BLS certification.
Preferred:
One year prior work experience as a nurse assistant.
