Responsible for performing all aspects of patient examactivities at a technical level that will produce high quality imagesconsistent with established policies and procedures at a technical leveltypically requiring general supervision.EssentialFunctions and Responsibilities:
Specializes in performingultrasound diagnostic studies.
Obtainspatient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patientconcerns to foster a sense of comfort and confidence to patientsand ensure the needs of individual patients are met.
Operates and maintains all assigned ultrasoundscanning equipment to ensure it works properly.
Positions patients, selects appropriatetransducers and machine settings and conducts scanning procedures tocorrectly capture the images requested by a physician.
Completes quality assurance processes and practicesradiation safety in order to reduce exposure to patients, staff and self.Complies with all The Joint Commission, federal, state, and localregulatory laws, standards, and protocols.
Maintains all required documentation, logs,charts, forms and records in paper and electronic formats.
Maintains an adequate supply of all consumablesto perform quality testing.
Performs all routine daily, weekly, monthly, andperiodic maintenance and function checks following established protocolfor all imaging equipment.
May assist other areas of radiologyas assigned.
Performs other related duties as required anddirected.
Required:
Graduation from an approved school of medical sonography.
Registration as Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS).
Current BLS certification.
